Tucson, AZ. – A 28-year-old woman was killed, and two other people were injured in a head-on collision in Tucson on Sunday evening, according to the authorities.

The fatal collision happened around 7:05 p.m. on January 18 in the 4000 block of East Fort Lowell Road.

Authorities said a 23-year-old man was driving a black 2017 Jeep Wrangler westbound when he crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed into an eastbound red 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage that was traveling in the curb lane.

The Mitsubishi driver, a 28-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Jeep driver and his passenger, a 17-year-old male, fled the scene on foot. They were found nearby and detained. Both of them were taken to Banner University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries and charges are pending against them.

The collision remains under investigation.
