Trooper Severely Injured in Car Crash at Blue Star Highway and Commerce Boulevard in Midway

Trooper Hospitalized After Car Crash at Blue Star Highway and Commerce Boulevard

Jacksonville, FL. – A Florida Highway Patrol was hospitalized with severe injuries after a traffic collision on Monday morning in Midway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The accident happened at about 6:50 a.m. on August 11, at Blue Star Highway and Commerce Boulevard.

FHP said the trooper was pursuing a speeding car with lights and sirens on when their patrol vehicle was hit by a white service pick-up truck.

The trooper got out of the vehicle and collapsed before the vehicle burst into flames. Two women pulled the trooper away from the vehicle to safety.

The patrol vehicle sustained extensive front-end damage due to the collision. 

The trooper was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and was listed in severe condition with a broken foot.

The trooper was taken into surgery on Monday noon.

The other motorist involved was transported to TMH for treatment of minor injuries.

No one has been cited following the accident.

An investigation is underway.
