Jackson County, OR. – A person was killed early Sunday morning in a pedestrian accident in Jackson County, according to the Oregon State Police.

The deadly accident happened around 4:50 a.m. on August 10, on Interstate 5 near milepost 35.

Police said a Freightliner commercial motor vehicle and trailer was traveling northbound when it struck Scarlet Laresia Guenther, 50, of Eagle Point, who was standing in the lane of travel.

Guenther was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Freightliner driver, Gerardo Alemanurieta, 37, of Riverside, CA, and the passenger, Alfonso Casteneda, 38, were uninjured in the accident.

No other details were provided.

Police are investigating the accident.
