Phoenix, AZ. – One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash involving a city bus early Monday morning, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
The collision occurred near the intersection of 51st Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road at around 4 a.m.
Investigators said a 48-year-old Phoenix man was driving a pickup truck and attempted to pass traffic using a left-turn lane when he swerved to avoid another vehicle, entered oncoming lanes, and collided head-on with a Valley Metro bus.
The man was transported to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The bus driver was not injured, and no passengers were on board at the time of the collision.
The deadly accident remains under investigation by the Phoenix Police Department.
