Officer Injured in Crash on 11th Street in Quincy

Police said a 2006 GMC Sierra was halted at the intersection in the westbound lane and was trying to turn on North 11th Street.

Officer Sustains Fatal Injuries After Car Accident on 11th Street in Quincy

Quincy, IL. – A Quincy police officer was hospitalized after a traffic collision on Tuesday in Quincy, according to the Quincy Police Department. 

The accident occurred on January 27, at 11th Street and Broadway Street.

Police said a 2006 GMC Sierra was halted at the intersection in the westbound lane and was trying to turn on North 11th Street.

At the same time a Quincy Police Department squad vehicle was heading eastbound on Broadway and was trying to turn on North 11th Street when the GMC Sierra turned in front of the patrol vehicle. The two vehicles crashed.

The officer suffered head and neck pain and was taken to Quincy Medical Group for treatment.

The GMC Sierra driver told police an uninvolved car also halted in traffic waved him through.

The GMC driver was cited for an improper left turn.

An investigation is underway.
