Motorcyclist Killed in Accident on State Road 77 in Panama City, Bay County

Police said the motorcycle was heading north on State Road 77 towards the entrance of Tractor Supply and at the same time an SUV was leaving Tractor Supply and was entering the median crossover.

Panama City, FL. – A 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed following a traffic collision on Tuesday afternoon in Panama City, Florida.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident happened at 1:06 p.m. on State Road 77,  in front of the Tractor Supply in Southport.

Police said the motorcycle was heading north on State Road 77 towards the entrance of Tractor Supply and at the same time an SUV was leaving Tractor Supply and was entering the median crossover. The motorcycle and the SUV ultimately collided.

The rider, a Panama City resident, reportedly tried to avoid the collision but was partially thrown from the motorcycle and he crashed into the SUV. The 22-year-old motorcyclist was taken to the hospital where he died.

The SUV driver, a 69-year-old male driver and a 69-year-old female passenger, all from Panama City, were not hurt in the crash. 

State Road 77 was closed for an unspecified time following the collision.

The Florida Highway Patrol, the Fire Department and Bay County EMS office and Bay County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the crash.

An investigation is underway.
