Police said a single vehicle crashed for reasons still under investigation.

Saline County, IL. – 20-year-old Mattix T. Sandifer of Ridgeways, Illinois has been identified as the person killed from Ridgway following a single-vehicle accident on Friday morning in Saline County, according to Illinois State Police.
The deadly accident occurred at about 1:58 a.m. on August 8, on IL-34 about 1 mile west of Harco Road near Galatia.
Police said a single vehicle crashed for reasons still under investigation. Authorities said there was a secondary collision in the area when a vehicle struck an Illinois State Police squad vehicle.
Sandifer was declared dead at the crash site.
Two persons were flown to a regional hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the collision. The two patients were identified as 21-year-old Jacob C. Ahrens of Ridgeways and 20-year-old Konner C. Pemberton, also from Ridgeways.
All lanes were blocked until around 7:20 a.m.
Ahrens, the driver, was later arrested and charged with two counts of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs Involving Personal Injury, a Class 4 Felony and two counts of Aggravated Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs Involving Death, a Class 2 Felony.
