Clark County, NV. – One person was killed in a car accident that happened on Sunday afternoon in the Mount Charleston Recreational Area of Clark County

According to the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 2:19 p.m. on State Route 156 near mile marker 7.

A silver 2012 Jeep Wrangler was traveling eastbound and was attempting to pass a silver 2022 GMC Sierra pickup truck. At the same time, the driver of the GMC crossed the centerline to pass a Toyota pickup, entering the westbound lane and into the Jeep’s path.

The driver of the Jeep steered left but over-corrected to the right, causing the vehicle to overturn on the right shoulder.

The driver of the Jeep, 23-year-old Gilbert-Amado Hernandez, was pronounced dead at the scene.

More details about the accident were not released.

The Nevada State Police Highway Patrol’s Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the accident.
