Evansville, IN. – A 14-year-old died in a car crash that left four others injured on Sunday afternoon in Evansville.

According to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred in the 1900 block of Orchard Road at around 2:28 p.m.

A teen was driving a car eastbound on Orchard Road at a high rate of speed when the vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a tree.

A 14-year-old passenger was ejected from the car and was taken to the hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries.

The driver and three passengers suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.

Police suspect speed was a contributing factor in the crash.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
