Police said a semi-truck went off the highway for unknown reasons, hit a tree and burst into flames.
Piatt County, IL. – A semi-truck driver was killed following a traffic collision on Tuesday morning in Piatt County, according to the Illinois State Police.
The accident happened at 2:23 p.m. December 9, on westbound I-74 at Milepost 167, one mile west of the Mansfield exit.
Police said a semi-truck went off the highway for unknown reasons, hit a tree and burst into flames.
The truck driver was declared dead at the crash site.
Westbound traffic at the crash site was down to one lane following the collision. All lanes of I-74 were cleared as of 2:23 p.m.
An investigation is ongoing.
