Driver Injured After Plane Crash Lands on Top of Car on I-95 in Merritt Island

Authorities said a Beechcraft 55 landed on a Toyota Camry as it was trying to make an emergency landing on Interstate 95. The aircraft landed on top of the Camry before skidding in front of it and onto the road.

Merritt Island, FL. – A driver was injured after a plane landed on vehicle on Monday night in Merritt Island, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The accident happened at about 5:45 p.m. on December 8, on Interstate 95.

Authorities said a Beechcraft 55 landed on a Toyota Camry as it was trying to make an emergency landing on Interstate 95. The aircraft landed on top of the Camry before skidding in front of it and onto the road.

The pilot, a 27-year-old Orlando man, and his passenger, a 27-year-old Temple Terrace resident, were not hurt in the accident.

The 57-year-old woman driving the Camry sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

An investigation is underway.
