Yakima County, WA– A 64-year-old man, identified as Collin Smith of Yakima, was seriously injured after being struck by a suspected drunk driver on the Nob Hill overpass in Yakima County on Friday.

The major collision happened at about 12:35 p.m. on May 30 on the Nob Hill Boulevard overpass.

Yakima Police Department said two vehicles – a Chevrolet Silverado and a Honda Civic – were traveling westbound on Nob Hill Boulevard, on the overpass, when the Silverado rear-ended the Civic.

The Silverado driver fled the scene after the crash. The hit-and-run driver was later located in downtown Yaima, and a shirt chase ensued before the suspect jumped out of the vehicle and ran. The suspect was caught a short time later and was arrested.

Police believe the man, whose name was not released, was under the influence at the time of the collision.
