Klamath County, OR. – One person was killed and another was seriously injured following a single-vehicle crash on Sunday morning in Klamath County, according to Oregon State Police.

The crash occurred near milepost 12 on Highway 31 at around 10:07 a.m.

Preliminary findings indicate a southbound Dodge Ram 1500 attempted to pass another vehicle in a designated passing lane when the driver lost control.

The truck slid off the roadway, and the driver’s side tires caught in a ditch, causing the vehicle to roll, go airborne, and eventually crash into a tree.

A passenger in the pickup, identified as a 62-year-old Bend man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Roadway conditions and speed were identified as the primary contributing factors in the crash.

The crash significantly affected traffic along the highway, with the roadway impacted for approximately three hours while authorities conducted the on-scene investigation and cleared the wreckage.

Oregon State Police were assisted by the Oregon Department of Transportation.

The crash remains under investigation.
