Officials said the bridge collapsed and a gigantic piece fell to the ground in unclear circumstances. Six construction workers were thrown about 30 feet and one of them was trapped.

Miami, FL. – Six construction workers were injured after a traffic collision on Friday night in Miami, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.

The accident happened on January 16, at the Interstate 395 bridge.

Officials said the bridge collapsed and a gigantic piece fell to the ground in unclear circumstances. Six construction workers were thrown about 30 feet and one of them was trapped. 

The workers were injured and transported to the hospital. Five were reported to be trauma alerts while one was in a stable condition.

The Florida Department of Transportation stopped the project following the collision.

The project was owned by De Moya Group and Archer Western. The two companies had been cited before two times for exposing workers to dangerous areas.

An investigation is underway.
