35-Year-Old Spring Hill Man Killed in Accident on I-75 over the Alafia River Bridge in Tampa

Troopers said two motorists were walking after a traffic collision in the area when a Chevy Traverse operated by a 41-year-old woman from Brandon crashed into one of the vehicles involved in the earlier collision. The vehicle then knocked a 35-year-old Spring Hill man off the bridge and into the Alafa River.

Tampa, FL. – A 35-year-old Spring Hill man was killed after a traffic collision on Sunday morning in Tampa, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The accident happened on August 24, on I-75 over the Alafa River Bridge.

Troopers said two motorists were walking after a traffic collision in the area when a Chevy Traverse operated by a 41-year-old woman from Brandon crashed into one of the vehicles involved in the earlier collision. The vehicle then knocked a 35-year-old Spring Hill man off the bridge and into the Alafa River.

He was declared dead at the scene.

The Chevy then drove on and crashed into another vehicle, a Mazda 3 sedan, which was unoccupied at the time.

The Chevy driver sustained minor injuries due to the crash.

No one else was injured in the collision.

Traffic was diverted onto US-301 S at mile marker 254 following the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
