3 Children Injured After Multi-Vehicle Crash on North Western Avenue

West Town, IL. – Three children were injured while a driver was arrested and another cited after a traffic collision on Saturday night in the West Town neighborhood in Chicago, according to the Chicago Police Department.

The accident occurred in the 1000 block of North Western Avenue at about 10:40 p.m. June 14.

Police said, a 34-year-old man was heading southbound in a Lexus SUV when he crashed into a Lexus sedan heading west on Thomas Street. The SUV then crashed into two unoccupied parked vehicles on Western Avenue.

The 34-year-old man driving the SUV sustained injuries to his body, a passenger, 13-year-old girl, sustained face injuries. The two were taken to Stroger Hospital and were in a stable condition.

A second passenger, a 9-year-old girl, sustained multiple fractures to the head, face and arm and was transported to Humboldt Park Health in critical condition.

One sedan passenger, an 11-year-old girl, sustained minor injuries and was transported to St. Mary’s in a stable condition.

The 34-year-old SUV driver was arrested and issued nine citations and charges are pending.

The sedan driver was issued one citation.

An investigation by the Major Accidents Investigation Unit is ongoing.
