Troopers said a Mustang was heading south on Rocks Springs Road at a high rate of speed while a van operated by a 63-year-old man was traveling north in the left-turn lane. The van attempted to turn west onto Alexandria Place Drive, and it turned directly into the path of the speeding Mustang.

Apopka, FL. – Two people were killed and two others were severely injured following a traffic collision on Sunday evening in Apopka, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred a while after 6:00 p.m. on September 23, at Rock Springs Road and Alexandria Place Drive.
Troopers said a Mustang was heading south on Rocks Springs Road at a high rate of speed while a van operated by a 63-year-old man was traveling north in the left-turn lane. The van attempted to turn west onto Alexandria Place Drive, and it turned directly into the path of the speeding Mustang. The Mustang’s front then crashed into the right side of the van.
Two van passengers, a 81-year-old man and a 94-year-old woman, all Apopka residents, were killed in the collision. The man was declared dead at the crash site while the woman died at the hospital.
The Mustang driver, an 18-year-old man from Apopka and his passenger, a 17-year-old boy, sustained severe injuries and were taken to the hospital. The 17-year-old boy was listed in a critical condition.
The van driver was not taken to the hospital, and he remained at the crash site.
An investigation is underway.
