Philomath, OR. – A child was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Saturday evening in Philomath.
According to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), the accident happened on Highway 34 near Grange Hall Road at around 5:15 p.m.
Preliminary investigation shows that a 21-year-old woman was driving a 1997 Ford F-350 westbound on Highway 34 when she struck the rear of the Ford Escape that was turning east onto Grange Hall Road.
A boy who was a backseat passenger in the Ford Escape succumbed to his injuries while being transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center (GSRMC).
The 26-year-old female driver of the Escape and her front-seat passenger were also transported to GSRMC with minor injuries.
The driver and passenger of the F-350 were unhurt.
The Benton County Crash Team is investigating the accident.
