Mesquite, N.M. – A woman was hospitalized after being injured in a car accident near Mesquite on Sunday morning.
According to the New Mexico State Police, the accident happened on the eastbound side of Interstate 10 at mile marker 151 at around 6:30 a.m.
A 2015 Kia was traveling westbound on the eastbound side when it collided with a 2016 Honda.
The woman driving the Honda was injured in the accident and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The wrong-way driver, 20-year-old Isaiah Lopez, was arrested for driving while under the influence, and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
