
Wasco County, OR – A juvenile was killed and several people were injured in a collision that occurred in Wasco County on Monday night, according to the Oregon State Police.
The incident took place on Highway 97, near milepost 65 at about 9 p.m. on April 7.
According to OSP, Eduardo Enrique Aguirre, 34, of Spokane, was driving a Honda CRV southbound when he tried to overtake a commercial vehicle in a no-passing zone and collided head-on with a northbound Volkswagen Atlas.
A passenger in the Honda, a 7-year-old boy, was flown to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Aguirre and another passenger in the Honda, a 4-year-old boy, were taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Volkswagen, Eric Daniel Smidt, 45, of Pendleton, and his passengers, Heather Marie Smidt, 46, and a 15-year-old boy, were all transported with major injuries.
The OSP is investigating the accident.
