Man, 71, Killed in Collier County Pedestrian Accident on Rattlesnake Hammock Road

Collier County, FL – A 71-year-old man was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident in Collier County on Sunday night, according to FHP.

The deadly crash happened at about 7:30 p.m. on January 19 on Rattlesnake Hammock Road near Collier Boulevard.

FHP said a 46-year-old Lehigh Acres woman was driving eastbound on Rattlesnake Hammock Road, approaching the intersection with Collier Boulevard in the outside left-turn lane.

A 71-year-old Margate man was walking south across the eastbound lanes of Rattlesnake Hammock Road when he was hit by the woman’s vehicle.

The male pedestrian was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No additional details regarding the accident were provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
