A Mitsubishi Outlander was traveling east on Route 97 when it crossed the centerline and struck a Hyundai Sonata
Springfield, IL. – Two people were killed in a car accident near Springfield in Sangamon County on Saturday morning, March 22.
According to Illinois State Police, the accident happened near the intersection of Illinois Route 125 and Route 97 early Saturday morning.
A Mitsubishi Outlander was traveling east on Route 97 when it crossed the centerline and struck a Hyundai Sonata traveling in the opposite direction.
Leslie Foggy, 63 of Springfield was pronounced dead at the scene.
Tammy Boyer, 43, of Petersburg was taken to Springfield Memorial Hospital where she later died.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
