Palm Beach, FL. – The Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office has disclosed the identity of a child who died after being struck by a car near Woodlands Middle School in Lake Worth on Thursday.
The fatal collision happened around 4 p.m. on Lyons Road, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
13-year-old Landon Coggin and 12-year-old Elias Angel were on bicycles on the shoulder of a roadway when they crashed into each other.
Both students landed on the roadway and were hit by a passing truck.
Coggin was killed in the accident.
Angel was transported to the Delray Medical Center with serious injuries.
The driver of the semi stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
