Columbia County, FL – A Lake City man was hit and killed by a vehicle while standing behind his disabled vehicle early Sunday morning in Columbia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol
The deadly crash happened at about 5:20 a.m. on State Road 100 near County Road 245A.
FHP said the 31-year-old Lake City man was standing behind his disabled GMC Jimmy in the westbound lane of State Road 100 when a westbound sedan, operated by a 56-year-old Hawthorne man, struck him before hitting the rear and left side of the disabled vehicle.
The Lake City man died in the incident. His name has been released. The Hawthorne man sustained minor injuries in the crash, FHP said.
