Mount Charleston, NV. – One person was killed in a collision near the Spring Mountains National Recreational Area near Mount Charleston on Sunday, March 16.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Lee Canyon Road near mile marker 7, at around 2:20 p.m.

A silver 2012 Jeep Wrangler was attempting to pass a silver 2022 GMC Sierra pickup truck. Simultaneously, the GMC’s driver attempted to pass a Toyota pickup truck and directly into the path of the Jeep.

The driver of the Jeep, 23-year-old Joshua Gilbert-Amado Hernandez, steered left onto the shoulder while attempting to avoid a collision and overturned.

Hernandez was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The GMC driver did not stay at the scene and was yet to be located.
