South Shore International College Preparatory High School is a Chicago Public Schools selective enrollment status high school that offers International Baccalaureate (IB) and Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs for all students. This first-time scholarship essay contest was established as a means to help one of their 2015-2016 graduating seniors cover the cost of five courses at the Western Illinois University: School of Law Enforcement & Justice Administration during the 2016 Summer Term.
Essay Winner: Simone Merritt
The Chicago firm of Lerner and Rowe Injury Attorneys proudly takes an active role in the essay contest. They will present the $3825 check to the senior essay winner, Simone Merritt on:

The title of the essay winner was “My Five Year Plan to Fight for the Rights of the Voiceless – Just Like My Hero, Glen Lerner.”
Students had from August 20 – September 4, 2015 to put together a plan using 1991 words to explain how they would reach their personal and academic goal of pursuing a degree at the Western Illinois University: School of Law Enforcement & Justice Administration. Attorney Glen Lerner was selected as the student’s hero because he has also overcome many obstacles becoming the successful attorney he is today. He also actively supports local community schools, organizations and initiatives.
