(October 16th, 2018) Phoenix, AZ — The rain storms in Phoenix, that weekend, claimed at least one life after a week-old child was pronounced dead following a car accident on Valley Freeway.
Arizona Department of Public Safety said the crash occurred around noon Saturday along the Loop 101 near Northern Avenue. The crash involved two vehicles, a Chevrolet Silverado and a Honda Sedan.
The Honda driven by Christopher Mur struck the Silverado, while the Silverado was stopped in the HOV lane after being involved in an earlier collision during a heavy downpour.
An adult passenger and the infant were taken to a local hospital. The infant was pronounced dead around 11 p.m. on Sunday. The adults injuries were described as serious, however not life threatening. The driver of the Silverado was treated in a hospital and released.
A GoFundme page identified the victim as Virginia Mur. The page announced that the infant was almost 3 weeks old at the time of her death. The page was asking for donations for Virginia’s parents, Chris and Morgan Mur.
The donations will help cover medical expenses, funeral arrangements, and a new car for Christopher, whenever he is healed and ready to return to work. The GoFundme page has raised more than $4,000 of its $10,000 goal.
While this investigation is still ongoing we want to send our deepest condolences to the family and friends that were affected by this terrible, car crash.
