Police said a 19 year old motorcyclist was killed following a two vehicle accident just after midnight Saturday at the intersection of East Speedway Boulevard and North Richey Boulevard in Tucson.
Tucson, AZ.- A motorcyclist was killed following a two vehicle accident early Saturday morning in Tucson.
The accident occurred just after midnight on July 18 at the intersection of East Speedway Boulevard and North Richey Boulevard.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and transported the rider to Banner University Medical Center, where he later died.
Police identified the motorcyclist as 19 year old Jaycob Christopher Nieto.
Investigators said a silver 2021 Hyundai Tucson was traveling westbound on Speedway Boulevard and attempting to turn left onto Richey Boulevard when it entered the path of the motorcycle.
Authorities said the 60 year old driver of the Hyundai was not impaired.
Investigators determined that the driver’s failure to yield while turning left, along with excessive speed by the motorcycle, were the primary contributing factors in the collision.
No charges or citations have been issued.
The accident remains under investigation.
