Meza, AZ – Three people, including an 8-year-old girl, were killed following a head-on traffic collision involving a stolen vehicle in Mesa on Monday morning, according to a police report.
The deadly crash happened at about 8 a.m. on Val Vista Drive, south of Southern Avenue, according to the Mesa Fire and Medical Department.
According to the police, a preliminary investigation showed that a Ford F-250 pickup truck, reportedly stolen in Gilbert, was heading northbound on Val Vista Drive when it collided head-on with a Nissan Armada.
Police say a third vehicle was also involved in the collision.
The driver of the Nissan, identified as 42-year-old Troy Garlock, and the driver of the Ford truck, a 29-year-old adult, died at the accident scene.
An 8-year-old girl and another 6-year-old girl were in the backseat of the Nissan at the time of the collision. The two children were transported to the hospital where the 8-year-old child died.
The third driver suffered minor injuries in the collision.
