Phoenix, AZ – Several people are seriously injured, three seriously, following a crash involving multiple vehicles on I-17 in north Phoenix Saturday afternoon, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

According to the Phoenix Fire Department, five to seven cars were involved in the wreck.
Arizona Department of Public Safety said seven people were injured in the collision. Three people were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Four other patients were evaluated at the scene but refused transportation to the hospital.
Authorities said the left lanes of Interstate 17 southbound near Deer Valley Road were shut down as crews worked to clear the scene and investigate the crash. The roadway was reopened at about 3 p.m.
The accident is being investigated by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
