Mattawa, WA – A driver was killed and a passenger was injured after a vehicle crashed on Highway 243 near Mattawa early Tuesday, according to Washington State Patrol.
The Washington State Patrol said the crash happened just before 4 a.m. on Highway 243, near milepost 3.8. about 10 miles east of Mattawa.
WSP said Grant County man Sergio L. Corrales, 52, was operating a 1999 Honda Civic southbound on Highway 243, The vehicle drifted off the road and Sergio overcorrected it, causing the vehicle to overturn.
Sergio and his passenger, 53-year-old Sonia G. Corrales, were both ejected from the overturned vehicle.
Sergio Corrales was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sonia Corrales was hospitalized in unknown condition.
The crash remains under investigation.
