Lewis County, WA – A female pedestrian was hit and injured by a vehicle on Interstate 5 in south Lewis County Thursday morning.

The accident happened at 9:20 a.m. on June 26 on I-5 at milepost 59, near the Cowlitz River.

According to Washington State Patrol, A 69-year-old woman was driving in a black 2017 Lexus RX northbound on I-5 when the pedestrian ran into traffic.

Authorities said the 33-year-old Ferndale woman was in the left lane when she was hit by the Lexus.

The pedestrian was taken to Tacoma General Hospital for treatment.

The driver, an Olympia resident, was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the collision and was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
