Posen, IL. – An Illinois State Police trooper was injured in a collision involving a suspected drunk driver in Posen on Saturday morning.

According to ISP, the accident happened around 1:45 a.m. on Interstate 57 near 147th Street.

The trooper was inside their squad car and was conducting an investigation into an earlier crash when he was rear-ended by a Mercedes-Benz C300 sedan operated by 33-year-old Brian Blackwell Jr, of Chicago.

Blackwell and the trooper were injured and were both taken to the hospital for treatment.

Blackwell Jr. was cited for driving under the influence.
