Troopers said a 20 year old man was killed after being struck by a vehicle in a hit and run accident Saturday night on State Road 574 near Bethlehem Road in Hillsborough County.
Tampa, FL.- A 20 year old pedestrian was killed following a hit and run accident Saturday night on State Road 574, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred around 11:15 p.m. on September 5 near Bethlehem Road.
According to troopers, the 20 year old man was walking in the westbound lane of State Road 574 when an unknown vehicle approached.
The vehicle struck the pedestrian and continued from the scene without stopping.
Emergency crews responded to the area, but the man suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities identified the victim as a Guatemalan national. His name was not provided in the initial report.
Florida Highway Patrol investigators have not released a description of the vehicle involved in the collision.
The identity of the driver also remains unknown as authorities continue working to locate the person responsible.
The fatal hit and run accident remains under investigation.
