Troopers said a 65 year old Crystal River man was killed after an e bike accident involving a tractor trailer Tuesday afternoon in Sumter County.
Sumter County, FL.- A 65 year old Crystal River man was killed following an e bike accident Tuesday afternoon in Sumter County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred around 2 p.m. on July 14 on County Road 48 east of County Road 575.
Troopers said the man was traveling east on the south shoulder of County Road 48 while a tractor trailer driven by a 70 year old Valdosta man was also traveling east.
Investigators said the e bike rider lost control, overturned into the travel lane, and was struck by the passing tractor trailer.
The Crystal River man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.
No additional information has been released.
The accident remains under investigation.
