Authorities said one driver was killed and another was injured following a wrong way accident Thursday afternoon on Interstate 255 in St. Clair County.
St. Clair County, IL.- One person was killed following a head on accident Thursday afternoon in St. Clair County.
The accident occurred shortly after 2:45 p.m. on northbound Interstate 255 near Interstate 64.
Authorities said a southbound vehicle crossed the median and collided head on with a northbound vehicle.
The driver of the southbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the northbound vehicle was transported to a local hospital. Information regarding that person’s injuries has not been released.
Northbound Interstate 255 remained closed for several hours while emergency crews investigated the accident and cleared the roadway.
The accident remains under investigation.
