2 Hurt in Motorcycle Accident on Interstate 84 near Milepost 113 in Sherman County

Authorities said two motorcyclists were injured following an accident during a group ride Saturday morning on Interstate 84 in Sherman County.

Rufus, OR.- Two motorcyclists were injured following a motorcycle accident Saturday morning in Sherman County.

The accident occurred around 10:45 a.m. on July 18 on westbound Interstate 84 near milepost 113.

Investigators said about 20 riders were traveling together when the group began slowing. A white Honda motorcycle’s brakes locked, causing a following black Harley-Davidson motorcycle to collide with the rear of the Honda.

Both riders were thrown from their motorcycles.

The Honda rider was transported by ground ambulance to Adventist Health Columbia Gorge in The Dalles.

The Harley-Davidson rider initially declined treatment but later requested transportation to the same hospital.

Authorities have not released the identities of the riders or the extent of their injuries.

Investigators said the Honda rider was cited for unlawful deceleration and operating without a valid license.

The accident remains under investigation.
