Police said one person was killed and at least four others were injured following a six vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Scottsdale Road and Shea Boulevard.
Scottsdale, AZ.- One person was killed and at least four others were injured following a multi vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon in Scottsdale.
The accident occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m. on July 14 at the intersection of Scottsdale Road and Shea Boulevard.
Police said several vehicles were stopped at a traffic light when a speeding driver struck the rear of the line, triggering a chain reaction collision involving six vehicles.
Two people were transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries, and one of them later died.
Two additional people suffered serious injuries, while another person was hospitalized in unknown condition.
Emergency crews remained at the scene for several hours while the damaged vehicles were removed.
Scottsdale Road remained closed through the evening before reopening around 11:30 p.m.
Authorities have not released the identities of those involved.
The accident remains under investigation.
