
Rockford, IL. – 24-year-old Whitney Camp of Rockford, who was eight months pregnant, was killed after a traffic collision on Tuesday in Belvidere Township, Rockford, according to the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office.
The accident happened at the Spring Creek Road and Shaw Road intersection on June 10.
Authorities said a 2015 Cadillac SXR was driving westbound on Spring Creek Road while a 2025 Nissan Sentra was eastbound on Spring Creek Road. The Cadillac did not yield to the Nissan that was attempting to turn left onto Shaw Road.
The Cadillac driver was treated and released at the accident site.
Camp’s loved ones said she died on impact and her baby was delivered in emergency surgery and placed into the NICU.
Camp’s 1-year-old son, her mother and grandmother were also hurt in the collision but are expected to survive.
An investigation by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office is ongoing.
