Police said a bicyclist was seriously injured following an accident involving a vehicle Wednesday morning near Southwest Rosser Boulevard and Southwest Meridian Avenue in Port St. Lucie.
Port St. Lucie, FL.- A bicyclist was seriously injured following an accident involving a vehicle Wednesday morning in Port St. Lucie, according to police.
The accident occurred around 6:40 a.m. on August 19 near Southwest Rosser Boulevard and Southwest Meridian Avenue.
Port St. Lucie police officers responded to the area following reports of a collision involving a bicyclist and a vehicle.
Officers arrived and found a man who had been riding a bicycle unconscious but breathing following the accident.
The injured bicyclist was airlifted to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital for treatment.
Authorities said the man was listed in critical but stable condition and is expected to survive his injuries.
Traffic in both directions near the accident scene was temporarily shut down while emergency crews assisted the injured bicyclist and officers investigated the collision.
Drivers were redirected to nearby side streets while the roadway remained closed.
Authorities have not released additional information about the vehicle or driver involved in the accident.
