Pike County, IL.- A 16 year old girl was killed following an accident involving a passenger car and a school bus Thursday morning in Pike County.
The accident occurred at approximately 7 a.m. on August 13 on U.S. 54 between Atlas and Pike Station.
Authorities said the collision involved a passenger car and a school bus.
The 16 year old girl was driving the passenger car and was pronounced dead at the scene following the collision.
Officials confirmed that current Pleasant Hill students who were aboard the school bus were safe following the accident.
School remained in session following the collision, with support services made available to students and staff.
Authorities have not released additional information about the circumstances that led to the collision.
