Pedestrian Killed in Accident near 7th Avenue and Indian School Road in Phoenix

Police said a pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle early Friday morning near 7th Avenue and Indian School Road in central Phoenix.

Phoenix, AZ.- A man was killed following a pedestrian accident early Friday morning in central Phoenix.

The accident occurred around 2 a.m. on September 4 near 7th Avenue and Indian School Road.

Police said the pedestrian was walking in the roadway mid block when he was struck by a vehicle.

According to investigators, the male driver did not initially realize that his vehicle had struck a person.

The driver returned home and noticed damage to his vehicle. He later returned to the accident scene and learned that a pedestrian had been struck.

Emergency crews transported the injured pedestrian to a local hospital for treatment.

Authorities said the man later died from injuries sustained in the collision.

Police said speed and impairment did not appear to have contributed to the accident.

The driver was not arrested following the collision.

Authorities have not released the identity of the pedestrian or additional information regarding the circumstances leading up to the accident.

The fatal collision remains under investigation.
