Man Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident near Indian School Road in Phoenix

Police said a man died after being struck by a vehicle in a hit and run accident Tuesday evening near 5th Avenue and Indian School Road in Phoenix.

Phoenix, AZ.- A man was killed following a pedestrian hit and run accident Tuesday evening in Phoenix, according to police.

The accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on September 8 near 5th Avenue and Indian School Road.

Officers responded to the area and found the pedestrian suffering from injuries after being struck by a vehicle.

Emergency crews transported the injured man to a local hospital for treatment.

Authorities said the man later died from injuries sustained in the collision.

Investigators believe the vehicle involved may have been a white SUV or pickup truck.

Police said the driver left the scene before officers arrived. The suspect vehicle had not been located at the time of the initial report.

Indian School Road was closed between 3rd Avenue and 7th Avenue for several hours while officers investigated the fatal collision.

No arrests have been announced.

Phoenix police are asking anyone with information about the vehicle or driver to come forward. Tips can also be submitted through Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.

The fatal hit and run accident remains under investigation.
