Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident at 16th Street and Brill Street in Phoenix

Police said a man was killed after being struck by an SUV early Friday morning near 16th Street and Brill Street in central Phoenix.

Phoenix, AZ.- A pedestrian was killed following an accident Friday morning in Phoenix.

The accident occurred shortly before 5 a.m. on July 24 near the intersection of 16th Street and Brill Street, south of McDowell Road.

Emergency crews found the pedestrian with critical injuries and attempted life saving measures.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said the victim was crossing mid block and was not in a crosswalk when he was struck by a northbound Chevrolet Tahoe.

Investigators said the driver remained at the scene and was not impaired.

The Chevrolet Tahoe sustained front end damage, including damage near the headlight area.

16th Street was closed for several hours while investigators processed the scene before reopening later Friday morning.

The accident remains under investigation.
