Authorities said one person was critically injured and another was hospitalized following a two vehicle accident Thursday afternoon near Center Road and Barr Road in Peotone.
Peotone, IL.- Two people were injured following a two vehicle accident Thursday afternoon in Peotone, according to Manhattan Fire Protection District officials.
The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on August 27 north of the intersection of Center Road and Barr Road.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and found one occupant trapped inside a vehicle following the collision.
Firefighters stabilized the vehicles before working to safely extricate the trapped patient from the wreckage.
One person suffered critical injuries and was transported by medical helicopter to a Level I trauma center for treatment.
A second person was treated by emergency personnel at the scene before being transported to a local hospital.
Authorities said the second patient suffered injuries that were not considered life threatening.
The intersection remained closed while firefighters, paramedics, and other emergency personnel assisted those involved and worked at the accident scene.
Authorities have not released the identities of the injured people or additional information regarding the circumstances that led to the collision.
The accident remains under investigation.
