Paula Babcock Dead, 5 Hurt in Lincoln County 4-Vehicle Crash on Hwy. 101

A preliminary investigation revealed that a white Chevrolet Spark was traveling northbound on Highway 101 when, for unknown reasons, it went off the travel lane and sideswiped a southbound white Tesla S, before crashing into a blue GMC Yukon, also heading southbound.

Lincoln County, OR – The Oregon State Police has identified the person who was killed in a traffic collision involving four vehicles on Highway 101 near Lincoln City.

OSP identified the driver killed in the crash as 69-year-old Paula Babcock from Donald.

Three other drivers and two passengers were injured in the crash.]

The drivers were identified as Mary McCarthy, 62, of Lincoln City, Robert Gates, 57, of Salem, and Diane Rodriguez, 65, of Lincoln City.

The injured passengers were identified as James Rodriguez, 76, of Lincoln City, and Alena Gates, 41, of Salem.

Lincoln County, OR – One person was killed and several others were injured after four vehicles collided on Highway 101 in Lincoln County Saturday afternoon, the Oregon State Police said in a press release.

The fatal multi-vehicle crash happened at about 3:31 p.m. on June 7 on Highway 101 at milepost 119 near Lincoln City.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a white Chevrolet Spark was traveling northbound on Highway 101 when, for unknown reasons, it went off the travel lane and sideswiped a southbound white Tesla S, before crashing into a blue GMC Yukon, also heading southbound.

The initial impact sent the Tesla into the northbound lane where it collided with a black Kia Sorento.

The driver of the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and a passenger in the Kia were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The Tesla driver and their passenger, and the GMC driver also sustained minor injuries in the crash.

The highway closed for about seven hours as investigators and crews worked at the scene.

The crash is under investigation.
