Authorities said two teenagers were injured after a two vehicle collision sent an SUV into a group waiting to cross the street Saturday afternoon at Route 34 and Heritage Drive in Oswego.
Oswego, IL.- Two teenagers were injured following a two vehicle accident Saturday afternoon in Oswego.
The accident occurred around 12:51 p.m. on August 30 at the intersection of Route 34 and Heritage Drive.
According to the Village of Oswego, an eastbound passenger car ran a red light at the intersection and collided with an SUV that was making a left turn.
The impact caused the SUV to slide toward the corner of the intersection, where several teenagers were waiting to cross the roadway.
Two teenagers were injured as a result of the collision.
One teen was transported to Loyola Medical Center for treatment. Authorities did not immediately release information regarding that teenager’s condition.
A second teen was transported to an area hospital and was listed in stable condition.
A third teenager on the sidewalk was evaluated by emergency personnel but declined additional medical treatment.
Police said the passenger car was driven by an 18 year old. The driver was cited for disobeying a traffic signal and failure to reduce speed.
The SUV was driven by a 31 year old who was cited for driving with a suspended registration and operating an uninsured vehicle.
Illinois State Police is deploying a crash reconstruction team to assist Oswego police with the investigation. Authorities said additional charges could follow.
