Troopers said six people were injured following three separate crashes involving a total of 11 vehicles Sunday afternoon on Interstate 10 in Okaloosa County.
Okaloosa County, FL.- Six people were injured following a series of three crashes Sunday afternoon on Interstate 10, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The first collision occurred around 3 p.m. on August 30 near westbound mile marker 46.
Troopers said heavy rain caused one driver to lose control of a vehicle while traveling on the interstate.
The vehicle struck a guardrail before colliding with another vehicle.
Two additional crashes occurred nearby following the initial collision, bringing the total number of vehicles involved in the three accidents to 11.
Six people suffered minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities have not released the identities of those who were injured.
The series of crashes forced the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 to close for approximately three and a half hours while emergency crews assisted those involved and cleared the roadway.
The westbound lanes reopened at approximately 6:42 p.m.
The circumstances surrounding the three accidents remain under investigation.
