Minibike Rider Critically Hurt in SUV Accident on Walnut Road near North Liberty

Authorities said a minibike rider suffered life threatening injuries following an accident involving an SUV Wednesday evening on Walnut Road near North Liberty.

North Liberty, IN.- A St. Joseph County driver was critically injured following an accident involving a minibike and an SUV Wednesday evening near North Liberty.

The accident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. on August 26 in the 67000 block of Walnut Road.

Emergency crews responded to the area following reports of a serious collision involving an SUV and a minibike.

Authorities said the minibike rider suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The SUV and minibike were both traveling south on Walnut Road when they collided near Leeper Road, according to the initial investigation.

Authorities have not released the identity of the injured rider or additional information regarding the rider’s condition.

Roads surrounding the accident scene were closed for several hours while emergency crews assisted those involved and investigators examined the collision.

The affected roads have since reopened to traffic.
