Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident on US 41 in North Fort Myers

Troopers said a 59 year old Fort Myers man died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing US 41 Friday night in North Fort Myers.

North Fort Myers, FL.- A 59 year old man was killed following a pedestrian accident Friday night on US 41.

The accident occurred around 8:52 p.m. on September 4 in the southbound lanes of US 41 near Judd Road.

Authorities said the Fort Myers man was attempting to cross US 41 on foot from Judd Road when a 2015 Ford Focus approached.

The Ford was driven by a 17 year old girl from Cape Coral.

The vehicle struck the pedestrian as he was crossing the roadway.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and transported the injured man to a local hospital for treatment.

Authorities said the 59 year old later died from injuries sustained in the collision.

The teenage driver was not injured.

Authorities have not publicly released the identities of the pedestrian or driver.

Additional information about the circumstances leading up to the collision has not been released.

The fatal accident remains under investigation.
